Zinc Stearate

Type: Lubricant

Development / Applications

Zinc stearate is a white powder resulting from the reaction of zinc oxide and stearic acid. It is manufactured using vegetable palmitic acid. Due to its properties, it is widely recommended as a secondary stabilizer and lubricant in the production of PVC compounds. It is the best mold release agent among all metallic stearates (soaps). It contains no electrolytes and has a hydrophobic effect. In foaming applications, especially in conjunction with azodicarbonamide, it helps catalyze the foaming process. It is also used as a lubricant for antistatic crystal polystyrene and expanded polystyrene, as well as an anti-caking agent for rubber extrusions. This additive is also used in the manufacture of cosmetic products.Food Packaging Approval:Complies with FDA 21 CFR 178.2010; This substance may be safely used as an antioxidant and/or stabilizer in polymers used in the manufacture of articles or components of articles intended to be used in the production, manufacture, packaging, processing, preparation, treatment, packing, transportation, or preservation of food.
