Development / Applications
PVC K76 resin is a micro-suspension resin (K=76) for high-gloss topcoats and coatings with high mechanical strength. It is used to produce plastisol or pastes that exhibit low viscosity at low shear rates and slight expansion at high shear rates in formulations with low to medium plasticizer dosages (40–60 phr). Plastisol made from this polymer offers a high-clarity, high-gloss surface finish, low water absorption, good electrical resistance, good air release, and a low gel temperature. It also exhibits good thermal stability and lightfastness when used with various heat stabilizers, as well as good mechanical properties. When left to stand or with a long shelf life, its viscosity increase over time is low, as is its tendency to settle. These plastisols are suitable for solid spread coatings, especially transparent coatings with low plasticizer content and where high mechanical properties are required. Due to their low viscosity, they are ideal for all types of coatings and for rotational molding, dip coating, and casting processes. Some applications include synthetic leather, coated fabrics, boots, car armrests, and interior parts for motor vehicles requiring high resistance to mechanical wear.
