Development / Applications
MEG-99 is a distilled glyceryl monostearate derived from fully hydrogenated edible palm oil, produced according to the RSPO Mass Balance supply chain model for sustainable palm oil. It is a high-quality, efficient water-in-oil emulsifier with a monoglyceride content exceeding 95% %. In the plastics industry, it is used as an internal lubricant in PVC: it promotes melting, reduces melt viscosity, and enhances gloss without compromising transparency, making it suitable for transparent applications. Its high monoglyceride content allows the same effect to be achieved with lower dosages, and its low free glycerin content reduces volatiles and the risk of clouding or depositing on equipment. Derived from a fully hydrogenated oil, its low iodine value provides greater color stability. In the food industry, it is used as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and anti-caking agent: it provides the characteristic smooth texture of ice cream and whipped cream, gives body and volume to baked goods, slows down bread staling, and stabilizes emulsions such as margarine, dressings, and sauces. In the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, it is used as an emulsifier and consistency agent in creams, lotions, ointments, and hair care products, and as a solidifying and controlled-release agent in pharmaceutical formulations. It is a safe, non-toxic, and harmless additive with no restrictions for human consumption.
