Common problems in knife coating and how to fix them

In knife-cut textile coating, most defects do not come from "poor quality" of the additive, but from how each ingredient interacts with the rheology of the paste. These are the situations we see most frequently:

The viscosity of the paste is very sensitive to changes in the plasticizer.

Switching between two plasticizers that appear equivalent—for example, DOP and DOTP—alters how the paste fuses and adheres to the rolls. It's not a problem with one product or the other; it's that the paste is calibrated for a specific rheology.
