Antioxidants and UV Protectors

Product Overview

General Description

The antioxidants and UV protection for plastics They are suitable for various applications, from vinyl paints, polyolefins, PU, and textiles. Antioxidants, As its name suggests, it prevents oxidation and subsequent yellowing of products; its use is generally recommended for finished products that are constantly exposed to the elements. On the other hand, UV protectors They work differently because they protect your product from the sun's UV rays and other light sources. Oxidation and light degradation are two different concepts, so both products can be used together to extend your product's lifespan.

There are many products that we might think would require antioxidants and UV protection for plasticsRoad signs, window frames, garden fences, exterior decorations, chairs, etc. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the antioxidants and UV protection for plastics They help us preserve the physical properties of the material, not just its appearance.

Benzophenone

It is usually a common grade found in general-purpose formulations with a UV protection Acceptable. It's a neon powder that, when added to plastic parts or paints, helps delay yellowing from UV exposure. Different grades are available depending on the application.

It is recommended to use it with antioxidants, as this type of product is susceptible to oxidation. Similarly, the use of pigments that act as UV filters can improve the performance of your products and reduce costs.

UV ABSORBER 3C

UV ABSORBER 3C is a benzophenone-type ultraviolet absorber for plastics and other organic polymers. Due to its broad UV absorption range and excellent polymer compatibility, it provides excellent photostability to polymers against UV exposure, retarding yellowing and the degradation of mechanical properties when used properly. It is particularly recommended for the light stabilization of PP, PE, and PVC. It is also effective on polycarbonate, acrylics, EVA, polyester, and other polymers. UV ABSORBER 3C complies with FDA regulations.

Benzotriazole

It generally demonstrates greater UV protection and oxidation resistance than the Benzophenone. It is used in conjunction with a phenolic antioxidant or with a HALS when you want to achieve better results. Its various available grades allow its application in many of the polymers used today.

It is recommended to use it in conjunction with additives that are light-sensitive and can generate chromophores, which results in the yellowing of your pieces.

UV ABSORB P

UV ABSORB P is a strong benzotriazole-type ultraviolet radiation absorber in the 440-500 range . It offers excellent photostability to polymers against UV exposure. It can be used in combination with phenolic, phosphite, and HALS antioxidants to optimize the performance of products exposed to the elements. It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. For additional information, refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.

Antioxidant

As its name suggests, it slows down the oxidation of finished outdoor products. It is available in medical grades and general-purpose grades. It provides good initial color, transparency, and gloss to plastics.

Although the thermal stabilizers They are responsible for preventing the yellowing of the products; these antioxidants They serve to provide better initial color performance during processing as well as under outdoor conditions.

They have phenolic and propionate grades for different plastics.

DOVERPHOS-8

DOVERPHOS-8 is recommended as an antioxidant and co-stabilizer for rigid and flexible PVC compounds. It is commonly used in combination with barium-cadmium-zinc, barium-zinc, barium-zinc, calcium-zinc, and tin stabilizers. DOVERPHOS-8 is recommended for use in PVC compounds that can be extruded, calendered, or injection molded, providing excellent initial color. It is recommended for use in materials exposed to the elements as it extends their service life. The recommended dosage is 0.5 to 2.5 phr. Used to improve initial color, color retention, clarity, and brilliance in glass products, and to give more consistent colors in pigmented products.
