General Description

The optical brightener for plastics is a powder-based additive used to enhance colors and improve the visual appearance of finished products. The organic molecules in this product absorb UV radiation and re-emit it within the visible light spectrum for humans.

This material is compatible with various plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, EVA, and acrylic, among others. It is also used in certain inks, detergents, paper, and textile applications.

Its use is recommended in finished products where a “new” or clean appearance is desired, making them more attractive to customers. Its effectiveness is limited due to its tendency to oxidize, so it is best used in items that do not require outdoor durability and should not be used in combination with organic UV protectors.

OB-1

The lightfastness properties of OB-1 will vary depending on the substrate. It is primarily used to brighten synthetic fiber and plastic products, and is widely used in plastic film, lamination molding materials, and injection molding. It offers preferential brightness efficiency in polyolefin, rigid PVC, PVC foam, TPR, EVA, and PU foam. It also has a particularly good effect on foaming plastics, EVA, and PE foam.A dosage in a low range, from 0.001-0.020 phr, is recommended to prevent the tinting power of this additive from predominating over the base pigment.
